An Outdoor Picnic Operetta will be Saturday, Sept. 14, at the New York Mills Sculpture Park.
“The Clemency of Tito’s Tennis Club: A Picnic Operetta” is a new adaptation of Mozart’s opera, “La Clemenza di Tito,” with high-stakes sports drama, natural disasters and ’80s new wave music, according to a news release.
Reservations are encouraged for the 2 p.m. event. The $10-$20 donation per person is suggested, though “no one will be turned away for lack of funds,” according to the release. Patrons should bring lawn chairs and water; blankets, bug spray and sunscreen will be provided.
The event is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, according to the release. The New York Mills performance is sponsored by Perham Health.
